| R·R·R·R | Tight non-reservoir | Everything right. Nothing to hold, nothing to flow. Move on. |
| R·R·R·L | Shale | Neutron flips left: clay-bound water. The reversed density-neutron separation is the shale signature. |
| L·R·R·R | Tight reservoir | Clean rock, no porosity. Reservoir on paper, not in practice. |
| L·L·L·L | Water | Clean, porous, conductive. Salty water talks to the resistivity tool. |
| L·R·L·L | Oil | Clean and porous, but resistivity stands alone on the right. Hydrocarbon does not conduct. |
| L·R·L·R | Gas | Like oil, but neutron swings right. Fewer hydrogen atoms: the classic crossover. |
Deliberately simplified. Real interpretation adds environmental corrections, calibration, core, pressure and test data on top of these patterns.
